CRANKSHAFT
FUNCTIONS AND APPLICATIONS
A crankshaft is a critical component of an internal combustion engine that converts the reciprocating linear piston motion into rotational motion. This is achieved through the use of "cranks," which are points along the crankshaft where the connecting rods from the pistons connect. The "throw" of the crankshaft is the distance between the center of the crank and the center of the crankshaft, and this determines the stroke length of the engine.
